Shopping and Meeting with Leaders

No commitments until the evening, so we make a trip into Dublin to do some shopping and for Cathy to investigate some sites from her mother’s history. Our landlord tells us before we leave that he will have the cable installed before we return, but we still want to check on prices of a wireless card for Sam’s laptop. In Dublin, we walk to the area where Cathy spent many of her early years and looked for the church where her mother was christened based on her birth certificate.

The first thing we found was a small canal that her young brother fell into and almost drowned. Just down the street was the library where Cathy had received (after much anxious waiting) her first library card. We toured the library and talked with the staff, who directed us to the church behind them where Cathy’s mother was christened. They told us that it would not be open as mass was already completed, but that there would probably be someone in the presbytery at the other end of the church. So we visited the presbytery and spoke to the priest who asked us to come back on Thursday as he was preparing to leave for an appointment.

We rounded out the trip with lunch at one of our favorite lunch spots and a visit to an electronics store recommended by our landlord’s son for good prices on a wireless card. They were too expensive compared to what we could get back home or online, so we decided to just use the cable for now. We returned home and found that we did indeed have internet access and can now easily check our emails and keep in touch … even keep our web site / blog udpated (once we get time to do it).

After a short rest and time of organizing, we went to meet 6 ladies who are sharing the leadership of a group of about 20 ladies doing CBSI studies in Bray. This was another great time of catching up on what is going on in their group and in their lives as well as getting to know some of the newer leaders.
